Alice Waters

“I’ve admired many women. They all have what Mary Frances had, which is a kind of confidence in herself to live life the way she wanted.”

Jacques Pepin

“Mary Frances was way ahead of her time, talking about food in a way that people had not done before.”

Anne Lamott

“Are you even here for your one precious life? And if so, what are we going to have for lunch?”

Ruth Reichl

“She’s telling you to pay attention to every sense and she does it in a very feminine way.”

Jerry Di Vecchio

“She has the gift of putting her feelings in your heart.”

Dominica Rice-Cisneros

“Her writing was beyond any one generation. For me it was eye opening.”

John Ash

“If it hadn’t been for James Beard and Julia Child and M.F.K. Fisher and Jacques Pepin, I don’t know where American Cuisine would be today.”

Tanya Holland

“When I think about M.F.K. Fisher, she’s the antithesis of what’s happening in the food world today, where everything is so competitive — it’s more impersonal.”

Gayle Pirie and John Clark

“She can really conjure an image very quickly, and she does inspire you. As a young cook this was everything.”
