Excerpt from interview with Gary:

Meyer has a film as a producer in the festival as well. “The Art of Eating: The Life of M.F.K. Fisher,” about the pioneering mid-20th century Northern California food writer, is expected to make its world premiere. In this case, Meyer and San Francisco director Gregory Bezat are still raising finishing funds for post-production work. They plan to relaunch the film next year.

“I can’t think of a better place for this film to premiere because it’s in Northern California, which is where she lived the last 40 years of her life,” Meyer said of Fisher. “And between Napa (and) Sonoma, the food and wine are such an important part of our culture here.”

Indeed, that’s another superpower of the Mill Valley Film Festival: its location.
